These sliders are made for game days, potlucks and lazy Sunday dinners. The butter topping soaks into the rolls, and the edges go crisp in the oven.

Make them ahead

Assemble the sandwiches, cover and refrigerate for up to 8 hours. Make the butter topping just before baking so the rolls do not turn soggy.

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F. Slice the sheet of rolls in half horizontally and put the bottom half in a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  2. Layer half the cheese, all the ham and the rest of the cheese, then add the top half of the rolls.

  3. Whisk the butter, mustard, Worcestershire and onion powder and brush or spoon it over the tops. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.

  4. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake for 5 to 7 minutes more, until the tops are golden and the cheese has melted.
