The base for two shakes

3 cups vanilla ice cream + 1/2 cup cold milk. Blend briefly, then add one of the flavors below. See our classic vanilla milkshake for the method and texture tips.

  1. Strawberry

    • 1 milkshake base
    • 1 cup frozen strawberries
    • 1 tablespoon sugar, if the berries are tart

Blend the strawberries with the milk first, then the ice cream.

    Good with: A summer afternoon

  2. Chocolate

    • 3 cups chocolate ice cream
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup

Swap chocolate ice cream into the base and add syrup.

Good with: Whipped cream and a cherry

  3. Cookies and cream

    • 1 milkshake base
    • 5 chocolate sandwich cookies

Blend the base, then add the cookies and pulse 3 or 4 times so they stay in chunks.

Good with: An extra cookie on the rim

  4. Peanut butter banana

    • 1 milkshake base
    • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
    • 1 ripe banana

    Blend everything together. Contains peanuts.

Good with: Chopped peanuts on top

  5. Salted caramel

    • 1 milkshake base
    • 3 tablespoons caramel sauce
    • 1 pinch flaky salt

Drizzle caramel inside the glasses, then blend the rest into the shake.

    Good with: Pretzel pieces

  6. Coffee

    • 1 milkshake base
    • 1 shot cooled espresso or 2 teaspoons instant coffee dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water

Blend in the cooled coffee. Contains caffeine.

    Good with: Grown-ups after dinner

  7. Mango

    • 1 milkshake base
    • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
    • 1 pinch ground cardamom, optional

Blend the mango with the milk first, then the ice cream.

    Good with: A hot day
